Side Break Falls and Get Ups
Falling to the side is an important skill. The key to falling with confidence is reps. The goal is that when you fall unexpectedly, you can fall without injury and get up quickly. Our “Get Up” is done with defense as a top priority.
Rolling Back Fist
A great thing about flow drills is REPS! The Rolling Back fist flow drill offers extensive practice. It helps in throwing a back-fist and performing a rear foot forward block.
Working with a partner is what Kempo is all about. Key points is the keep elbow below the hand, during the retraction. Rotating the hips as a counter turn during the back-fist.
Shoulder Rolls
Performing the shoulder roll from standing is actually easier, but admittedly, a bit scary at first. This video shows what we are looking for. We also have various steps and techniques of teaching the shoulder roll, which can begin closer to the floor.
